Dopo aver ascoltato i racconti di alcune guide alpine in un’osteria, Cretinetti decide di tentare anche lui una scalata. Così, attrezzatosi tutto punto, si appresta a compiere l’impresa, che si rivela però subito ardua a causa degli attrezzi che lo intralciano nel cammino. Raggiunto un gruppo di scalatori in cordata su un ghiacciaio, Cretinetti scivola facendoli precipitare tutti. Ripresosi, si impossessa di una slitta, ma anche questa si rovescia. Decide allora di imparare a sciare. Dopo essersi bardato da provetto sciatore, si avventura nuovamente sulla neve con risultati ancor più disastrosi. Sconsolato per i numerosi capitomboli, ritorna all’osteria, dove trova le amiche guide ad accoglierlo.
